Overview

Scope: The project scope included comprehensive brand design, messaging development, and creative direction, alongside digital marketing strategies. It also encompassed photography, content production, and strategic planning to enhance engagement and visibility. December 2021 - Present

Description: I provide pro bono expertise to Girls Who Hike Virginia, serving as President of the Board of Directors and previously as Communication Director.

THE Challenge

Many women+ want to explore the outdoors but don’t know where to start — or don’t feel like they belong. GWHVA began as a space to change that. We set out to build a community where women+ could connect, learn new skills, and find confidence on the trail in a supportive environment.

The outdoors Doesn’t always feel welcoming.

The Process

Every post, video, and campaign centered around connection — not perfection. We focused on what the outdoors really feels like: peace, laughter, and the kind of joy that sticks with you long after the hike ends.
Telling The Story
Designed a visual identity that feels warm, grounded, and confident — a reflection of the community it represents.

Building the Brand
We partner with organizations across the outdoor industry to expand access, share resources, and amplify the message that everyone belongs outside.

Partnering for Impact
  • More than 700% audience increase in Facebook group community over two years

  • Combined audience of more than 45,000 built from scratch

  • 160% increase in engagement rate year over year

  • Today, GWHVA is a volunteer-run nonprofit with an 10-member Board of Directors, more than 60 Ambassadors across the state, and a community that keeps growing stronger every day.
