For the river.

Project Overview

Potomac Conservancy's mission lives in the field—in the hands of volunteers pulling trash from the Potomac and in the faces of people who show up because they genuinely love this river. From local cleanups to a high-profile sewage spill into the Potomac, my job was to go get those stories and bring them back in a form people would actually stop and engage with.

Role: Photographer, Content Strategist

Scope: Photography, Video Content Production + Editing

Tools: Canon RP, Instagram Reels native editing, Adobe Lightroom & Premiere Pro

The Results

The work didn't stay on a hard drive. It showed up in Potomac Conservancy's Instagram feed, their email newsletter, and their 2023–2024 Annual Report—reaching donors, advocates, and decision-makers who needed to see what was at stake.

The sewage spill documentation gave the organization something most advocacy campaigns don't have: unfiltered visual proof.

The Process

  • Led with the human angle—volunteers, stewards, people who love this river
  • Balanced beauty and urgency—native flora & fauna alongside the work it takes to protect it
  • Every shot designed to stop a scroll
Build The Story

  • Embedded in community cleanups, paddle events, and conservation site visits
  • Documented a sewage spill site for advocacy content
  • Captured real people and real places
Show Up

  • Videos edited for Instagram Reels
  • Photos displayed on social, newsletter, and web
  • Clean production, no overworking
  • Photography selected for the 2023–2024 Potomac Conservancy Annual Report
